Boardwalk Replacement Plan
The Borough of Lavallette is currently starting the process of replacing the boardwalk decking. The current plan calls for abut 4 to 5 blocks to be competed per year with the first phase starting sometime in October 2026. Larger sections may be added in following years as budgeting allows.
The first phase will begin on Dover Ave and go as far north as the current lumber allows, somewhere around Elizabeth Ave is the current estimate.
Inscribed boards
We will make every effort to remove the existing boards that are inscribed without damage. There is no guarantee that this will be possible, however all boards with inscriptions that are salvageable will be saved and available to pickup if you wish at the Lavallette Public Works.

Last week, the borough council awarded a $47,645 contract to 84 Lumber, of Lakewood, to provide wood for the replacement effort. The borough will use its own Public Works employees to remove the existing boards and lay the new ones. The contract will begin at the southern terminus of the boardwalk on Dover Avenue and run north for about four blocks.
“The plan is for us to do three to five boards*(Blocks) per year,” said Councilwoman Joanne Filippone. “It’s all dictated by money – if we get more, we’ll do more.”
